Just as Mercedes has decided it is time to take a brake from blogging (see here - well worth a read) for me it seems like time to get back into blogging.
Why?
because people miss it (their words not mine)
because I enjoy the focus it provides in reflection and exploration
because it provides the challenge and focus of communicating
because I enjoy it!
It has been a week of ups and downs; of being let down and of being picked up; of hitting brick walls and of leaping over some too!
There have been God colours and God flavors throughout (think salt and light - The Message) with joy and laugher: tears and sorrow all mixed up together. Life's wonderful, challenging, heartbreaking, soul making and tear jerking journey.
I took the funeral this morning of a quite remarkable lady, with a remarkable family ( I will not brake confidences with more detail - as regular readers know). I found myself with more than the usual emotional stirrings afterwards and a longer than average "coming round" time - anyone who has the privilege of taking funerals will tell you that they need an hour or so afterwards to "come round" - the emotional journey of the week perhaps, the incredible privilege of traveling with a special family in this part of their journey or being touched by the special lady that we said goodbye to?
Probably all of them...
Afterwards, as I watched my children playing in our garden, before going off to the office for the afternoon - a thin place emerged, a comforting moment - the peace of God which transcends all understanding...
Thank you Lord...
Hi Nigel,
Thank you for your mention on your last post and for your words of encouragement. I have added one more comment on my blog which I think throws some light on why I feel God has led me to stop the blog.
Be blessed
