Messy Spirituality by Michael Yaconelli is a book that has a base honesty that is striking and powerful. Not all of it sits comfortably but then that is the point - God is in the day to day nitty gritty - God's grace is not definable, we can't put it in a box, there is no magic formula!
Last weeks residential on communicating the gospel got me thinking about what sort of books/literature etc I would give to" searching" family and friends. Well in the past I have given copies of Oriel's diary and this has always gone down well.
"A fictionalized retelling of the life of Jesus, based closely on Luke's Gospel, as told from the perspective of one of the angelic host, the archangel Oriel. The diary opens with Boss giving the go-ahead for the plan of salvation - Gabriel is about to appear to Mary to announce the birth of Jesus." As per Amazon.
But I would happily add Messy Spirituality to my list too... more on Oriel's stories...
